APT Governance Positions
Co-Presidents. The Co-Presidents are responsible for implementing the decisions of the Governance Committee (GC), on which they also serve as ex-officio members. They work closely with the Standing Committees, the Communications Secretary, and the other elected officers of the Association. Co-Presidents also are also responsible for corresponding with scholarly associations and groups on behalf of the Association and helping secure sponsorships for the conference. Co-Presidents recruit local conference hosts and work closely with them to coordinate the details of the annual conference. Finally, Co-Presidents recruit and work closely with the Co-Chairs of the Programming Committee throughout the process of developing and finalizing the conference program.
Treasurer. The Treasurer is responsible for the collection and disbursement of all monies at the direction of the Governance Committee (GC) and is also an ex-officio member of that committee. The Treasurer is similarly responsible for presenting a financial report and a budget for the coming year to the GC at its annual meeting and for working with the accountant to submit the Association's taxes.
Secretary. The Secretary is responsible for approving new membership applications and keeping all membership records, keeping minutes of all meetings and recording decisions of the voting membership and Governance Committee (GC) regarding Association policies. The Secretary serves on the GC as an ex-officio member and is responsible for presenting a membership report to the GC at its annual meeting.
At-large members of the Governance Committee (GC).
At-large members of the GC are elected to three year terms. The GC is the deliberative and decision-making organ of the Association, shaping all policies and procedures and working with the Co-Presidents and other officers to ensure that the APT’s mission and business, as defined in the Constitution, are faithfully implemented.
